Care for the Brave is opening an new office in Havana to protect Human Rights Defenders as well as Armed Forces Veterans. We are aware of some transgressions occurring affecting Cuban veterans.
Human rights in Cuba are under the scrutiny by human rights organizations, who accuse the Cuban government of systematic human rights abuses, including arbitrary imprisonment and unfair trials.
Human Rights Experts claim Cuba has less accessibility to freedom of expression and the press than any other country in the Americas. Laws restrict the freedom of speech to protect state security.
The Florida-based Cuban Institute for Freedom of Speech and the Press (ICLEP) reported 255 arbitrary detentions of independent journalists in 2016. The government owns virtually all traditional media except for several underground newsletters.
Care for the Brave is a common sense with compassion organization. We will protect human rights defenders by working with the “Fiscal General de la Republica” and other authorities, to find a practical and fair solution. Only in the case of a negotiation halt, the issue will appear in www.GovinFactor.com.
